Im not going to go into what happened or who was involved, The point of this entry is a question to anyone reading this. How good are the police in your town or city? and honestly... do you feel safe with them being your "Legal" way of dealing with vandalism? Or do you view them as strictly ticket givers.
Ive lived in my town for close to 30 years, my whole life. I know most of the people that live in my area because of the business i am in. Growing up i knew that the police were my friends, i knew all of them one way or another, and i knew that if i slipped up or had a problem they would find me and correct it for me. Making me feel, fearful of them but more on the lines of respect. If that makes any sense.
Driving through my town the other day i can mention several things i witnessed that make me feel extremely unsafe, not only for myself but for the countless elderly i know that live in our town.
Most of the cops in our town now are part timers, We really have no legit full time Police. I was actually told by a State Police officer from a new by barrack, that if i have any problems i should just immediately contact the State Police, that there is to much Political influence in my town between people and the "Cops". This makes me feel very uneasy. You mean to tell me that i cant rely on the police whom i pay their salary through my taxes? Youve got to be kidding me right? I have to call the State Police? and i cant handle it myself?
Seems kinda crazy, Im not the only one that feels this way, i know several people that have written to the town newspaper where i live, But their stories never get published... because of Politics.... I guess its like this in all small towns. Its sad.
